Phi Phi Island village in Thailand

Phi Phi Islands
Phi Phi Island is a well known group of islands of Phuket, Thailand. This is a true tropical paradise! Coconut lines white sandy beaches and crystal clear, warm tropical water teeming with beautiful fish. The sea is normally as flat as a pancake. Just what the doctor ordered! A visit to Phi Phi island is a very popular day trip from Phuket. There is some amazing snorkeling around the islands in the crystal clear, warm water.

Phi Phi island was one of the places which was very badly hit by the devastating tsunami. Today, there are Tsunami warning signs and directions to places of safety all over the island. Just goes to show, even paradise on earth can be destroyed, or severely disrupted by mother nature.

On a trip to Thailand, we (My wife Marie and her son Hardy) stayed for a few nights on Phi Phi Island at Phi Phi Island Village Resort. Not the cheapest accommodation on the island. In fact quite the opposite. By Thai standards, it was expensive, but boy was it worth it! The stay included the boat ride from Phuket to Phi Phi. In fact, it also included hotel (or airport) pick up and drop off services in Phuket as well. So all you had to do was book and they sorted out the rest. The Resort has its own boat which makes the trip to Phuket and back twice a day.
Rooms on Phi Phi Island Village Resort

Everything about this stay was amazing. The rooms were great.
Dessert to die for.

The food was amazing. Thai food and the best of time (and even the worst of times) is amazing. Only breakfast was included in the package. The breakfast was full on. Plenty to eat. A beautiful spread of tropical fruit, and a typical American breakfast. By American breakfast, this is normally the term used for a breakfast with all the trimmings.  Bacon and eggs, sausages, waffles, fired potatoes, fried tomatos and all of the many other dishes which would go with a warm breakfast. The only other time I have seen a better breakfast spread was at the Shanghai La Hotel in Jakarta.  That breakfast will remain very very hard to beat! But that is another story.
Sea food dinner on the beach

There was a Thai restaurant on the side of one of the hills, overlooking the resort. Beautiful views over the resort swimming pool and to the bay beyond the pool. This was an up market Thai restaurant. The food was also just to die for.

The last night on the Island for us, there was a seafood barbecue on the beach. You pay a fixed price, which was quite reasonable and then you help yourself to the array of seafood. At that stage, Marie was still eating something - she had not gone Vegan yet. She was vegetarian, but did eat sea food. She has always been pretty much like a stick insect and does not eat too much, so I just had to step in and help her out with the eating! Beautiful fresh prawns, and even lobster. Crab, mussels and all of the other wonderful possibilities on a seafood barbecue. Of course there was also a great variety of fish, but who eats fish when there are all of the other "goodies" to eat.

Hardy joined (and enjoyed) the entertainment

You hire one of the long tail boats and cruse around the various islands which make up Phi Phi. Generally the islands have very steep and shear cliffs with beautiful white sandy beaches. A really wonderful way to spend the day.
Reminder of the Tsunami
Sunrise on the last morning

All too soon it was time to get th boat back to Phuket. The end of a wonderful stay at Phi Phi Island Village Resort. I would go there again in a heart beat.
